Your skin went through many environmental changes this summer. The sun, seawater, air conditioners and parties deep into the night may cause your skin to look dry, dull and less radiant. Now that summer is almost over, your face and body could use an extra boost. Time to adjust your skincare routine accordingly.
Cleanse your skin
Properly cleaning your skin is the first step towards a glowing skin. Choose a sulphate-free cleaning gel which restores the skin’s moisture balance. A gel is ideal for a deep cleansing in the morning. For the evening it is better to use a soft cleansing lotion to remove make up in a mild way.
Scrubbing
In order for you skin to restore, we first have to get rid of dead skin cells that lay on top of the epidermis. By scrubbing away dead skin cells, we make our skin smooth and glowing. Scrubbing, especially in circular motions, also stimulates blood flow. Your skin will absorb oxygen and hydrating products more easily. Lastly, scrubbing helps when it comes to getting a tan and increasing how long the tan lasts. Because sunburned skin can be extra sensitive, we recommend using a soft scrub with natural particles that do not damage the skin. The scrubs by Umami are made with glycerine and 100% natural strawberry seeds as scrub particles. This way Umami scrubs undo your skin from dead skin cells in a mild but efficient way. Gently scrub your skin once or twice a week.
Hydration boost
After a sunny season your skin may be dehydrated. Not only your face but also your body could use a hydrating boost. Apply a hydrating cream daily and focus on the neck and décolleté. The body creams by Umami are enriched with Shea Butter which is known to make the skin supple. Shea Butter is a great moisturiser. Shea Butter, in comparison with other natural oils, has a high amount of healing properties. This stimulate the process of cell renewal and helps to prevent dehydration.
Happy feet
When summer comes to an end, you will likely suffer from dry heels with cracks and callus. A footbath is a nice and relaxing way to look after your feet and make them delightfully soft again. Soak your feet for about 10 minutes, once they are soft, hard spots and callus becomes a lot easier to remove. Once you are all done, put some cream on your feet to have them looking smooth and healthy in no time.
Sunscreen
Even when summer ends it is important to keep protecting your skin from the sun. By continuously protecting your skin you can prevent (new) pigment spots from appearing. In autumn a hydrating cream or a gel with a low protection factor should be enough.
Smooth your tint
When summer ends, dark spots on the face or décolleté become more visible. You can use products that reduce the production of melanin (melanin is a pigment which gives the skin and hair its colour) and tackle discolouration to keep your tint smooth and glowing. Ask your beauty specialist for advice about professional treatments and peelings.
Make sure you sleep enough
Sleeping enough isn’t just important when it comes to having enough energy for the day, it is also important for the condition of your skin. If you don’t sleep enough you increase the risk of bags underneath your eyes, wrinkles, dull skin, saggy skin and pimples. So try to sleep enough this autumn, because your skin needs it.
